Do you remember a time when food was…well…food? When everything was made of real ingredients and you didn’t need a scientist to interpret what hypo complex blah blah blah was. It is hard to find these types of food, however I have found my diamond in the rough. A local Manitoba company called Nature’s Farm. They have an amazing sampling of all things good including eggs, bread, pasta and granola. (And so exciting since I can actually shop at this store because it is local to me, YAY)
To start with every part of their pasta is simply fabulous, ingenious, and delicious. The pasta is made from REAL ingredients. Nothing out of the ordinary, simply real ingredients that I know. However the ingredients, simple as they are, are very special. The wheat is world–famous Canadian durum wheat. And Nature’s Farm has their own laying hens which give them the eggs they need for their pasta. These hens are fed an all–natural vegetarian diet which will bring you outstanding flavor. The packaging of the pasta also helps you with portion control. When packaged in “nests” they are measured out for you in 30g portions which take the guess work out of preparation. And to wrap up all this goodness you have pasta that tastes like pasta I have never tried before. This is restaurant quality pasta that I would serve to my guests any day of the week with confidence.
We had the Wild Garlic Linguine for dinner tonight and it was absolutely AMAZING! You really have no idea how excited I am that I can purchase this locally! (No worries though, you can SHOP online too).
As I elated to before Nature’s Farm only uses the best eggs in their pasta. So it would only make sense to share those eggs to the buying public. Their Smart Eggs are available in 2 varieties. Free Run and Organic. The Free Run chickens are feed a strict vegetarian diet with NO antibiotics. They are cage free animals who can roam around the barn and live as chickens should. The Organic eggs are from chickens with an even stricter diet and have been certified organic. These animals are even allowed to roam outside, when weather permits. I loved that when we cracked these eggs open they actually looked like the farm eggs I used to remember!
And the final sampling I will tell you about is their granola. As a parent, finding a healthy snack for children can be a challenge. Nature’s Farm granola is it. Once again with simple ingredients that I can recognize Nature’s Farm knows what they are doing. With Molasses and Seeds, Honey Almond and Maple Pecan they are absolutely a great choice for a healthy snack on the go. I keep a bag with me when we go out, my kids love it and I feel that it is a great choice of snack for them too! All the oats they use are organic and no matter which of their granola choices you have, they taste great with yogurt, on fruit or just by the handful.
If you are looking for a small independent producer that still takes pride in their food, Nature’s Farm is what you are looking for. They still know what it means to produce quality healthy food that everyone should be eating. I know I will be be shopping here!
