Minute Maid and Breakfast Clubs of Canada provide breakfast for over 100,000 Canadian children

When I whisk my daughter on the bus in the morning I know that she is ready to face the day.  She has her backpack filled with her completed homework and her lunch box.  I also know that she has a full tummy ready to take on the day, unfortunately this is something that not all kids have.  In fact 1 in 10 kids are at risk of starving because they did not have a breakfast.

This is one sad reality. I did not grow up with many luxuries, but I never went to school hungry. It breaks my heart to know there are starving children at school.

What can we do about this?

Minute Maid wants to help.

Breakfast Clubs of Canada and Club des Petitis Dejeuners du Québec are organizations that this year alone have served breakfast to over 119,000 children.  Minute Maid’s role in this is donating of 1.5 millions dollars worth of 100% real juice over the next 3 years.  That’s right…I said MILLION.  This is just one way that Minute Maid wants to give back the community and help kids get the education they need.  Children cannot learn if all they can think about is when they are going to get their next meal.

According to Mazlow’s Hierarchy of Needs, food is at the base of all needs.  That means that a child needs to eat (among other things) before they can learn, or do anything for that matter.  The Breakfast Club of Canada and Club des Petites Dejeuners du Québec realizes’ that this is a very important factor in a child’s education.  In fact, in schools where the Breakfast Club of Canada is participating, teachers have commented that they have noticed an improvement in the quality of education from the students.

There are many ways to support this program that recognizes the investment of the next generation and providing a proper education for the children.

Please go to www.breakfastclubscanada.org for more information and to ensure that kids will not go hungry and will be able to learn.  Support the next generation.
