Small bedroom decor ideas for kids

Our girls bedrooms are very small. I’ve already shared how I think that often times less is more. I have been looking for ideas for their rooms. I have been unsuccessful at finding exactly what I would like, but I thought since I was browsing anyway, I would share these finds with you.

Do your children have small bedrooms? I’d love your ideas for decorating. Their rooms are 7.5′ x 8′. They each have slanted ceilings, 1 window and a tiny closet.

I love designing kids rooms :) I wish I lived closer! Keep checking Ohdeedoh and Pinterest for great ideas. They even put my little girl's room up at Ohdeedoh!

Jessie, I saw that the Strawberry Shortcake room was featured. I really wish you lived closer too! I think we would have a blast together, so would the girls! I may have to pick your brain for some room ideas! Smiles, Jody

Our first home was a 1.5 storey home, 100 year old home. Our daughters room was 7ft x 14ft (both both ends of the room were slanted significantly and she had no closet in her room. We actually used it as both a nursery and a spare bedroom. We had a long and narrow chest that was the perfect height for the nee walls. We had the bed and crib on opposite sides of the room, skipped the change table and did the diapers on the bed. It was very functional.

We didn't keep any toys in the room, instead using some of the space we had on the main level below the stairs and designating that area for toy storage/play.

We have the very slanted ceilings in the girls rooms. Their rooms used to be 1 larger room (sounds similar to what you had). There was a wall put in the middle to allow for a tiny closet in each room. We also do not keep many toys in the bedroom, there is not enough space. Jody

I love the decor style of the last pic! I'm decorating my kids room too - they share a bedroom. I've gotten the beds I want and the bedding I want - but now I'm stuck with what to do for the rest of the room LOL! I think I need some good wall art...here's a pic of what I have so far:

I have a seperate playroom for their toys so that their bedroom isn't too cluttered.

Ella, I love the bedding selections. Is there a closet & dresser in the bedroom? ~Jody

My daughter's room used to be 8x8, I always found, first use shelves on the walls to take away from floor space, I used a shoe rack on the inside of the closet door, and kept the toy box in the closet...the bed always against a wall to save floor space, and it was a captains bed, so the drawers were underneath....and a tall thinner dresser to store things on top and put play things in..or whatever they need....takes less floor space...depends on their ages as well on how to do things...but less is more.....

Thanks for the suggestions. Since the house is so old the walls are plaster which makes it very difficult to mount shelving. I may have to get a professional in to help me. Thanks again for your comment, Jody
