The weather is warming up and the sun is shining. It’s time to get outside and enjoy all that nature has to offer. In addition, it’s the perfect time to get your hands dirty and have a little bit of gardening fun.
The truth is though, not everyone has a huge green space or a large yard to have an array of live plants and a colorful flower display.
There are, however, some amazing plants that will grow just fine on a small patio so that anyone, even those that live in a compact space, can enjoy a lush outdoor space.

Oregano, rosemary, and mint are among some of the amazing herbs that you can grow on your patio. Sunlight gives herbs the chance to thrive so growing them on a patio is the perfect option.
One of the easiest plants to care for are geraniums and they add an amazing burst of color to any space. Perfect for adding beautiful pops of color to any patio.
Palms are a great plant to add some greenery to your patio. With palms placed around your patio, you can feel like you are in an exotic tropical paradise.
Palms can grow very tall which is great for shade cover, and can be brought inside during the winter to be used again in spring!
If you want your patio to feel bright and summery, sunflowers are a perfect choice. Not only are they easy to grow on your patio but they look fantastic in clay pots or boxes.
To change things up on your patio, opt for a flowering vine like the Mandevilla. Keep in mind though, that this plant will require something to climb like a lattice. Once planted Mandevillas flower in beautiful shades of pink, white and red.
Fun pops of color are what can be expected from the lantana‘s multicolored flowers. These are also a favorite for butterflies, so you can sit on your patio and watch them fly around.
There are many different beautiful plants that will work well on a patio. Just make sure to utilize your space in the most ideal way, choose plants that work well for pots and get creative with your plants.
As you can tell, palms are my personal choice this year. Living in Manitoba, the winters can be very long, so adding palms in summer makes it feel like a little tropical oasis!
