Adobe introduced the PDF format in 1993. Since then it has quickly become the top choice in universal document format. Not only do software programs keep growing and increasing in number, types of machines are growing as well. PC, MAC, tablets and smart phones are now all common types of devices. While these different types of programs and devices generally make work easier, there is one main problem. These devices don’t have common operating systems. This creates a problem since the user can no longer just type up a word document and assume that the person receiving it can open and read it.
Adobe solved this problem by introducing the PDF format as a system-wide universal format. Pretty much any person on any system or device can open a PDF file.
While many people still write up documents and forms in a word document, there are many great advantages to PDF files.
