Paper Bag Pinata
With warmer weather (cross your fingers) brings the plans of outside parties! A favorite among kids is the pinata. You can find them hanging from the backyard tree (or what have you- I’ve seen hockey sticks several times). Children love them, and why wouldn’t they? The piñata is a Mexican art/craft that is festive, bright and detailed. Inside of them are candies/treats/favors that pour out once the piñata has been cracked open!
My issue with these party items are:
1) I”m yet to see a pinata that can be cracked open at a child’s party. I’ve seen cousins, dad and uncles open them, but never a birthday child. I don’t know if I ever will. Pinatas are quite study and well made, It takes a great deal of strength to actually open it!
2) Pinatas are so attractive! Fairies, butterflies, pirate ships and puppy dogs, etc are all fair game in the piñata world. Why would a child want to break open such a lovely item? More than once have I seen a child cry as their piñata was hit over and over again!
3) Pinatas can cost about $20 (unfilled) or more! That a pretty big price tag for something that’s going to be smashed!
You, and your child, still love the piñata tradition?…NO WORRIES! I have seen the most smack-able, decorative, kid made and inexpensive pinatas all over the web!
I introduce to you: the paper bag pinata!
Do yourself and your child a favor this birthday…make your piñata. Trust me from my birthday party experience!
What do you think of this idea? I’d love to hear your thoughts!?

This would be so much easier with the little ones that don't weigh enough to wack a store bought one open! Such a good idea and I have birthday party coming up soon!

You are so welcome. I just tend to find it painful to watch the whole pinata experience when it doesn't work!:)
