Creating fun last day of school traditions is a great way to get your kids excited and make the last day of school even more special.

START A COUNTDOWN

Just as your family counts down to other exciting holidays and events, start a countdown for the last day of school. Start your countdown about 2 weeks before the last day, getting everyone excited for the upcoming summer break.

Your countdown doesn’t have to be complicated to execute; in fact, you can simply just put a big “X” on each day of the calendar as it passes.

HAVE A SPECIAL BREAKFAST

The last day of school is cause for a full day celebration!

Make a special summer-y breakfast to start the day off right.

Try making a Breakfast Banana Split for the last day of school, the kids will love it and it is a fun tradition they can look forward to every year.

TAKE PICTURES

If you take the first day of school photos, take their last day of school photos in the same location if possible.

This will allow you and your children to see how much they have changed over the year.

This is a great way to commemorate their school year.

You can also use these photos to create a photo book, slideshow or scrapbook for them later down the line.

HOST A GET-TOGETHER

Plan a party with some of your children’s friends and family after that last day.

Just make sure to send out invitations well in advance to ensure that people will be able to attend.

MAKE A SUMMER BUCKET LIST

When your kids get home from school on the last day, sit down and create a summer bucket list together.

Write a list of everything that your family wants to accomplish and participate in this summer. This will get your kids ready for the summer months.

CREATE A SUMMER FUN BASKET

Prepare a summer fun basket for your kids.

Pack the basket full of fun summer essentials like water guns, water balloons, new beach towels, chalk, and other fun summer items.

When they get home from their last day of school you can give them their surprise!

This is a fun last day of school tradition that the kids will look forward to every year.

LET THEM CROSS THE FINISH LINE

Make a banner and have it across the front door or entrance to your porch for the last day of school.

The kids will love running through the finish line to celebrate the end of their school year.

In fact, you should run through it as well considering you made it to the end too.
