Educational resource SWAP

Do any of you take part in a book or toy swap?
I had never heard of this until I joined a French Library that offered one for $15 a year.
How it works is that the library has a big glass display case full of educational toys, books, movies, puzzles and games. You can pick any items that you want to borrow, sign them out and keep them for 2-3 weeks. Then you return them and pick out something else. The neat thing that I LOVE about this is that this swap is part of a bigger swap. The items that they have in the display also rotate. They cycle between other swap programs meaning our case changes 4 times a year (usually with the change of seasons!)

I have really enjoyed this resource. It saves money and also helps me to know if my girls will actually LOVE something before I would decide to buy it in the store!

This week we borrowed puzzles.

First was this barn that has magnetic animals inside each door.

Next was this wooden puzzle with buckles, snaps, zipper, buttons and tying.
and last was this French counting puzzle from 6-10.

I was very happy with these items and the children LOVED to have “NEW” things to work with!
Since this is a FRENCH program I love that the materials are french, but many of the items can be used in English too as you can see!

This is a terrific idea. What fun it would be to try the different tools and materials before investing. Sometimes I'm looking for something to use for a week or two related to a theme we're doing. A swap is a great idea.
