A zen garden is the perfect item of have on a desk to aid in relaxation throughout the day. And if you make your own zen garden, there is no need to spend a lot of money. A zen garden is also a great way for kids to relax and help them calm down after a stimulating day or stressful situation. This DIY ZEN GARDEN would also make a great gift for Dad for Father’s Day or his birthday, just change up the colors to make it personalized.
DIY ZEN GARDEN
MATERIALS:
1 empty tissue box
utility knife
decorative tape
3-5 rocks
glue
1 cup sand (I used playground sand, but a fine, decorative sand would work best.)
1 fairy garden rake (found at JoAnn Fabrics)
DIRECTIONS:
Cut a tissue box in half, about 2 inches tall. (Children will need an adult’s help) Glue the seams if they fall apart.
Cover edges with decorative tape. Make sure you cover the outer edge, inside edge and have the tape overlap a bit on the bottom of the inside and the bottom of the outside. (If you want a more plain look, cover the box with plain paper or one type of tape.)
Glue stones onto the inside bottom of your zen garden. Let dry completely. Fill with 1 cup of sand.
