WHY MOMS NEED ME TIME

Being a mom is a great job!  However, when I first thought of becoming a mother, I imagined the cuddles, sweet smiles, and dressing my little one up in adorable outfits.  While I knew they would happen, my daydreams didn’t include the sleepless nights, the dirty diapers and the lack of me time that would accompany being a mom.

Even though being a mom is a fabulous job, there are times when we want (and NEED) some mommy me time.  But is there a reason WHY moms need me time?

WHY MOMS NEED ME TIME

YOU CAN’T HELP OTHERS UNTIL YOU HELP YOURSELF

We’ve all been on an airplane when the stewardess goes through the emergency procedures.  When they get to the part of “in the event of cabin pressure loss” they always say SECURE YOUR MASK FIRST then help others.  Sometimes it is easier to stay home, on the couch in your sweats, but having a daily or even weekly task that is just for you will help you stay healthy and sane so that you can help your family.  Try working out for 30 minutes, or go for a coffee date with a friend.

IT WILL MAKE YOU A HAPPIER MOM

Sometimes moms can get angry and unhappy.  By taking time out to recharge your batteries and to take part in something relaxing that you enjoy, you will become a happier person.  In return, it will help you become a happier mom and that is something your family deserves.  Also, they will follow your example and be sure to take some me time for themselves.

ABSENCE MAKES THE HEART GROW FONDER

We’ve all heard that old adage.  When we are with our children all day, every day, they can (honestly) get on our nerves a little.  Getting out of the house and away from our children, helps us realize how much we love them and how much we really want to be with them.  When you are out with your girlfriends or spouse, how often does the conversation turn to your children?  What they’ve said, funny things they done, etc.

YOUR KIDS WILL GROW UP

It is going to happen.  One day you will look at your life and realize that your babies aren’t babies anymore and are more than capable of taking care of themselves.  They’ll be driving, going out with friends and eventually dating and getting married.  It is important to establish the person you want to be during the years when your children are at home, so that when it is time for them to leave you are not left floundering.  Use your mommy me time to start a new hobby.

Do you take time out for me time?  How do you accomplish it?  Do you schedule it in daily, or weekly?
