We’ve been focusing quite a bit on chores and responsibilities for kids. Many families have great methods for chore ideas and many families struggle with what chores their children should be doing on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
These Weekly Chores for Kids are a great way to lay out what is expected of your child while focusing on different chores throughout the week.
Start by finding different colored index cards (we chose a different color for each day of the week), one hole punch and a binder ring.
Next, we thought out which chores we would like our child to complete. There are obviously some chores you would like your child to complete on a daily basis.
Chores like making their bed, emptying the dishwasher and tidying their rooms, are items that we have placed on each day’s chore list.
Then we’ve added one or two additional chores that differ each day.
With a checkbox beside each chore, it is easy for your child to keep track of which chores they have completed and which chores they still need to work on.
CHORE CHART TIP
Laminate the index cards so they can be reused week after week!
If your child is having difficulty knowing exactly what one chore all entails, such as “clean the bathroom”, you can break the chores down into smaller steps like we have done with our Paint Chip Chore Chart.
What are the chores you get your children to do on a daily/weekly basis? Does it change week to week or does it stay the same?
