This last August I had the chance to go to Toronto as part of a parent advisory panel for Shaftesbury Films. There were a few bloggers from both Canada and the US invited to take part.
As a parent I am always looking for the newest gadgets or items that kids want. And I would have to say that Shaftesbury Films & Smoke Bomb Productions have come up with something that will hit the preteen market with a force. Totally Amp’d is the newest and coolest Appisode available on the internet.
Follow a group of 5 kids as the try to make through a music competition and see the challenges that face them.
What I liked best about this series that is tackles issues that preteen’s should face. This includes self-esteem, how to be a friend and bullying to name a few. My husband is a social worker and we often discuss what some preteens have to go through. This series helps kids get ideas as to how and why some kids are the way they are. This series also does not “force” preteens to face issues that they do not need to see. This is a clean series that I would let my daughters watch in a heartbeat.
This app not only comes with these 10 minute appisodes, but also includes a music mix studio, movie studio and a design studio. The music mix studio lets you mix and record music from songs heard in the appisodes. The movie studio (my favorite) lets you record you’re your own video by choosing different camera angles and you can preview your work. And finally the design studio lets you pick and design clothing for each of the cast members.
Here are two facts. Fact #1, almost every kid has an ipod, ipad, android, internet access, etc. Fact #2, there is lots and lots of crap on the television and internet. Here is a chance to give something positive to your kids. Totally Amp’d is about real life kids and how they deal with preteen issues. These appisodes will teach your kids how to deal with real life issues and give them a firm foundation and tools to help them be proactive members of society. It is a parent’s goal to have “good kids” and as parents it is our responsibility to lay this foundation in these critical years. I believe that Totally Amp’d will help give direction to preteen kids and assist you in being able to talk to your preteen.
