While the weather outside may be frightful, that doesn’t mean that your activities can’t still be delightful.

A snow day is a perfect opportunity to spend time together, participating in fun activities and maybe even playing hooky from work.

There are several ways to have the best family snow day ever!

All it takes is a little bit of creativity and an open mind.

PAINT THE SNOW

Add a few drops of food colouring to some water and fill up spray bottles.

Head outside and get ready to create some snow art.

This is a fun way to get creative in the great outdoors.

BLOW BUBBLES

While this seem more like an activity you would participate in during the warmer months, blowing bubbles outside in winter can be fun.

Especially if it’s cold enough outside.

Mix water and soap and head to the great outdoors.

If it’s cold, you can blow frozen bubbles.

BUILD A FORT

Gather all your blankets and pillows and meet in the living room to build an epic fort.

Remember, the best forts are built using lots of comfy pillows on the inside.

You can even use some Christmas lights to light up the inside.

The possibilities are endless and oh so exciting.

GO SLEDDING

Make a huge thermos of hot chocolate, grab your sleds and find the best snow hill in town.

If you don’t have sleds, bring a large piece of cardboard and make it work.

Parents must get involved too, there is nothing more fun that acting like a kid again.

HAVE A SPA DAY

Slice up some cucumber, make some DIY facemasks and make your living room a fantastic spa retreat.

There is nothing better than a day of pampering when the weather isn’t that great.

GET IN THE KITCHEN TOGETHER

There are so many benefits to cooking with your children.

Get in the kitchen and start creating masterpieces together.

Whether you decide to cook a full meal or just bake a batch of delicious cookies, getting together in the kitchen will be an exciting experience for all involved.

In fact, after you can enjoy some delicious food and watch your children feel proud of what they have accomplished.

TECH FREE

When the weather isn’t so great, and you are stuck inside, you may find yourself tempted to use technology all day.

Don’t.

In fact, make the snow day a tech free day instead.

Challenge your family to go the entire day without tech and connect instead.

A snow day is a great opportunity for families to enjoy each other. Just get creative, act like a kid and take the time to really connect.

We get very few snow days here in southern bc so we really make sure we spend lots of time doing all the fun things out there while there’s snow to enjoy!

These are really awesome ideas! When it snows where we live, it only snows a tiny at a time so I tend to stay in and bake all day.
