Every Monday evening we have supper with my grandma. It has become a something that I look forward to every week. We sometimes have grandma over to our house, we sometimes go out to a restaurant, but most often we go to her seniors complex and eat together in her tiny apartment.
It’s not about the food, or the environment, but rather about spending time together. It is special to me that my daughters are building a relationship with their great-grandma (Grammy).
The stories from the past always make me smile, even if I have heard them a hundred times before.
Grandma convinced me to take time to watch “The Sound of Music” because she told me it was a classic and she could not believe that I had never seen it. Grandma was right, I enjoyed the movie. I convinced Grandma to read “The Help” because I loved it, and she laughed because I was right and she enjoyed reading it as well.
My grandma is a remarkable woman. She always made time for me and encouraged me. Now I get to make time for her and I’m enjoying making these memories that will last forever.
What traditions do you have that are special to you?

I love the picture of your daughter knitting with her Great Grandma. I wish we lived closer to my Grandparents...

That is wonderful that you are creating a bond between your children and your Grandma! My son and step-daughter both had that bond with my husband's Grandma before she passed away earlier this year. I would like to develop that bond between my son and my Grandma and pledge to visit her more often!!

SwankMama, I'm sure your grandma would love to have you and your son visit more often. All the ladies smile when my family walks into the seniors complex. I hope I'll get visitors when I'm in my older years. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Smiles, Jody
