Simple & Yummy Butterfly Birthday Cake

Happy Birthday to Me!

Many people ask if I make my own birthday cake and the answer of course is yes!

• One, it’s not in our budget to buy a specialty cake.
• Two, my husband is not so good at the whole baking thing.
• Three, my kids would be devastated if we had a birthday without a cake and
• Four, I love making cakes.

So, I usually go for making something simple but really yummy. For this cake I covered in whip cream and piped some melted chocolate in the shape of a butterfly, let that set and placed it on top of the cake. Sometimes simple is just the best way to go! I like to make more detailed birthday cakes for my kids and husband, but for me, I just want cake. ~Erna
