I love the excitement that Halloween brings for my children. They love creating their costumes and getting dressed up. They love the fun of running from house to house collecting treats and seeing all the many different costumes others have come up with. This year however, I will not be around for Halloween weekend and will miss out on all the fun festivities with my family. So I decided to plan a Family Halloween Party this last weekend so we could enjoy some fun together.
It was actually quite easy (and A LOT of fun!) to plan our family Halloween party! I headed to my local dollar store and browsed the Halloween aisle. There were so many different items that it was almost hard to choose what I wanted to buy!
I purchased these adorable ghost and pumpkin cupcake toppers to put into the chocolate cupcakes that my kids were asking for. I even colored the icing — but found it hard to get the right orange color so I settled for yellow icing.
I also found these cute pumpkin napkins and black, orange and white jelly beans to adorn the table. I didn’t tell the kids what I was doing. They knew that they were getting chocolate cupcakes because I had promised them earlier in the week, but the rest of the decorations was a surprise!
Another great item that made the decor of our party more Halloween-esque, was this Boo sign from Hallmark. While it is actually made to use on a door, my kids loved having it in the kitchen and are begging to have it up until Halloween is over! Hallmark has many great other decor ideas for Halloween.
