HOW TO ORGANIZE YOUR CHRISTMAS HOME DECOR AFTER THE HOLIDAYS

When the holidays are over, and the time comes to take down the Christmas tree, put away all the ornaments and store the lights, you may be surprised at how time-consuming this can be.

In fact, organizing your Christmas home décor after the holidays can be downright frustrating!

HOW TO STORE ORNAMENTS

Use a leftover and empty wine box to store ornaments in.

The segments in the box are perfect for keeping your favorite Christmas ornaments safe, without trapping moisture as plastic bins do.

HOW TO STORE LIGHTS

Prior to putting your small light strands away, make sure to test each strand and replace any dead bulbs.

Store each strand in its own freezer bag to prevent them from becoming tangled.

Just make sure to leave some air in the bag so it will protect the bulbs.

For larger strings of lights, wrap them around a piece of cardboard and mark the cardboard with where they go in your home.

Then, place them in a large container altogether.

HOW TO STORE YOUR ARTIFICIAL CHRISTMAS TREE

If you have an artificial Christmas tree, you are going to have to make sure that you have plenty of space to store it.

The garage, basement or attic are all valid places to keep it safe.

In fact, you can even store it without taking it apart to save time next year.

Use ratchet straps or even ribbon to pull the branches in together so it will fit in a small space or corner.

Just make sure that you wrap the tree in plastic.  Using a mattress bag is a fantastic way to keep it protected.

HOW TO STORE GARLANDS AND WREATHS

When stored in boxes, garlands and wreaths tend to lose their shape and fullness.

Avoid this unsightly disaster by setting up a clothing rack in your garage, basement or attic to hold them.

Wrap your wreaths and garlands in a garment bag and use a hanger to hang them as they are.

This will make it easy to find them next year and keep them in good shape.

Or you can purchase a wreath storage bag or bin to keep your wreath in great shape for the next Christmas season.

When it comes to storing your Christmas home decor decorations this year, try to keep them safe.

Give them a quick dust and wipe down before storing them and keep them in one central location so they are easy to find next Christmas.

Don’t forget to label every box, bin or basket so they are easy to locate, and don’t get discarded by accident.

Proper storage of your Christmas décor can help to make next year’s decorating that much easier.

This is an excellent article. I never thought of using an empty wine box to store ornaments in.

We have storage boxes for the tree and the different decorations but it does take awhile to get everything put away.
