Homemade playdough is a very popular activity in our house.
The girls love pretending and I often see them making pretend playdough cookies.
I saw some cute Easter cookie cutters at the dollar store and thought it would be fun to make a batch of homemade playdough just in time for Easter.
The girls love playdough and I have made a few different kinds over the years.

- One packet Jello (or no-name brand) in the color of your choice
- One cup white flour
- 2 tablespoons cream of tartar
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 cup of water
- 1/2 cup salt
Heat the ingredients in a pot over medium heat, being sure to stir often. Be patient, it takes a while to start sticking.
Once it starts sticking together, remove from pan on a floured surface and knead.
If you find that you want a more tough dough, change the salt measurement to 3/4 cup.
Keep an airtight bag or container.
Playdough is a great option for filling Easter baskets or for Easter egg hunts.
If you are not interested in making your own playdough you can always pick it up for a decent price at your local dollar store.
You can also pick up cookie cutters, fun plastic eggs, placemats for playing on and so much more!
I hope you all have an enjoyable Easter.

This is great! I love to make stuff for my kids to play with (usually I do it as an activity with them). I love the candy-free idea. Thank you! Great pictures btw.

This looks like so much fun! My daughter loves play dough and what a great idea using cookie cutters. I need to go checkout our dollar store for cookie cutters. Also, I wanted to stop in and say thank you for your sweet comment about my spring mantel. :)
