I am not sure how to put into words how much I appreciate the effort my husband puts into Valentine’s Day. Valentine’s Day does not have to cost a lot of money – it is the thought that counts!
A few years ago I shared a note trail that my hubby made me for Valentine’s Day – and today I will do my best to share with you how my day went.
I woke up to my girls giving me a card in bed. I was not expecting much since I knew my hubby booked a sitter for a few hours tomorrow so we could go on a little date.
As I came down the stairs I saw some little gift boxes (pictured above) on the table, my hubby told me I would know when to open them.
I made my girls their Valentine theme bento lunches for school and hubby left for work.
A little while later I got a text….
“Open the box with the pics on it”
I opened it to find a rose.
Then I got another text…
“A rose in a box, wrapped up in dreams”
Time passes and I get another text:
“Open the card now”
So I opened it and then got this text:
“A card that explains how much your love means”
More time passes and this text comes:
“Next Box”
I open it and you guessed it, another text…
“A table for two with soft candlelight”
And after more time passes another text…
“Last one”
So I open the last one to see this…
And at that moment he walks in the door as my phone sends another text…
“The words “I love you,” somewhere in the night”
Hubby said “You didn’t get it” I said, it was so sweet!
He says, you love that song…
Then it all clicked!
A rose in a box, wrapped up in dreams
A card that explains how much your love means
A table for two with soft candlelight
The words “I love you,” somewhere in the night
The words from “I meant to do that” by Paul Brandt – a song I used to listen to all the time.
I cried.
The effort my hubby made meant more than any expensive gift could ever buy. He stayed up after I was in bed to get it all ready. I love that man so much!!
Happy Valentine’s Day to all of you.
I hope you all feel very special today and enjoy the little things!
I should also mention that hubby got the girls Valentine’s and made them their favorite breakfast before school. Seeing how awesome of a dad he is makes me smile every day!

I'm not a big fan of the commercialism that surrounds Valentine's Day, but that is so sweet that you have someone that knows how to give from his heart. That is love.
