Dear children, I want you to be grateful.
There are many wonderful traits you possess. You, my dear children, are amazing kids.
There is one thing though that I want to emphasize the importance of.
Gratitude.
If nothing else, dear children, I want you to be able to show gratitude.
DEAR CHILDREN, I WANT YOU TO BE GRATEFUL
You see, having gratitude is a fantastic and wonderous thing and whether you know it or not, we have always attempted to instill gratitude within you.
We always make sure to show our own gratitude for the things you do; others do and the things we have.
I strongly believe that practicing what you preach is the best way to teach. On several occasions, you have witnessed us being grateful for everything we have, and I am sure that has made a difference.
We have made a huge effort not to give you everything your little heart desires.
This is not because we don’t want you to be happy.
This is because we want you to be grateful for the things you already have.
By not giving in to your every whim, we are almost silently teaching you that you do not need everything everyone else has because you are already blessed.
You have made us proud over the years, not only displaying your own gratitude but by inspiring others to do the same.
The countless hours you have dedicated to writing in your gratitude journal have not gone unnoticed and reading your entries, with your permission, of course, always brings a smile to my face.
We are lucky to have such grateful children in the present, but we never want you to forget how important it is to stay that way.
Stay grateful.
Even when times get tough.
Even when it seems like there isn’t much to be grateful for.
Even when life gets busy.
Dear Children,
I want you to be grateful for every little thing that happens in your life. In one way or another, they will all shape you into the adult you will be in the future.
I want you to be grateful for everything you possess, whether that may be skills, abilities or things you own.
I want you to remember to always look on the bright side and see things as blessings.
Doing this will help you to move forward in life.
Dear Children,
I hope you are always as grateful as you are today.
I hope you continue displaying that gratitude well into adulthood, and I hope you teach your children, my grandchildren to do the same.
After all, being grateful is what helps us grow.
