Once you have recovered from all the food comas, opened all the gifts and shared all your holiday photos, it’s time for the holidays to end.
Now that all the beautiful decorations, parties and more are finished, you may find yourself feeling a little blue.
The truth is, the seasonal blues are often at an all-time high when the Christmas season has passed.
DEALING WITH THE POST HOLIDAY BLUES
As wonderful as the holidays are, they come with several different expectations and a whole whack of stress.
You start off with months, weeks and days of preparing, overwhelming yourself with stress, little time for self-care and finish off with a huge crash.
Once the holidays are over, our motivation dwindles, we become exhausted and we need to find a way to overcome the post-holiday blues.
TIPS FOR DEALING WITH THE POST HOLIDAY BLUES
Thankfully there are several ways to deal with the post-holiday blues, leaving yourself refreshed and ready to take on the new year.
FOCUS
Take some time each day to close your eyes and focus on your feelings.
It is important to reflect on where these feelings are coming from and make an action plan to put them into perspective.
DON’T IGNORE IT
When you are experiencing the holiday blues it is important not to ignore these feelings.
In fact, it is important to not only acknowledge them but to speak about them as well.
The holidays are a difficult time, but if you are experiencing overwhelming feelings, you should consult your healthcare provider.
REFLECT ON MEMORIES
Positive memories are a fantastic help when you are feeling down.
Take some time to look through photo albums and memory boxes and recall all the wonderful times you had over the holiday season.
Reflecting on the memories will help you to take all the positive out of the holidays and get rid of the holiday blues.
HAVE A SCHEDULE
Before the holidays end, set a schedule of important and exciting things for you to do in the coming months.
Giving yourself a schedule full of things you are looking forward to will help you to avoid the post-holiday blues, keeping yourself organized and prepared to have some fun.
There are several ways to deal with the post holiday blues.
Just remember, if you are feeling an overwhelming feeling of sadness, it is important to consult your healthcare provider.
Otherwise, focus, reflect, and have a jam packed scheduled for the coming months.
In no time, you will be embracing the end of the holidays rather than being sad about it.

So many of us deal with this - the Christmas Let Down. We work so hard, spend so much money, bake and cook for days and then boom! The gifts are ripped open in minutes, the meal is wolfed down, the beautifully decorated desserts are gone in a flash. All that is work is gone in a day.

I have been getting lots of sleep and cleaning the house. I start my spring cleaning after Christmas slowly. Keep me busy as I totally dislike winter.

Setting a schedule is so important post holidays. I don't feel blue necessarily, but I certainly lack motivation to get going these days...

I like the idea of having a schedule. If you can organize your time after such a busy pre Holiday season it seems to help.
