Counting Snowballs

A fun snow activity this week was to place the correct number of snowballs (cotton balls) under each number. Since my sandpaper numbers only go up to 9, we also wrote out the numbers 0-20 on papers and extended the activity.
This is a very inexpensive and fun activity. I was surprised how many times some of the children repeated this “work”.

(note: some children are texture sensitive, I’ve seen some children use a pincer grip to pick up the cotton balls because they do not like the texture)

Great idea! I've been trying to work on counting 11-20 with my 4-year-old daughter. She'd love this!

I could understand the texture thing. There are certain things I just HATE touching!

Dropping by from SITS. I'm a mother of two small children and a part-time English teacher to under-6s (yes, it's a challenge). I'm bookmarking you. I know something of Montessori, but would be interested to read more about how the activities actually work. Glad I found you.
