Comparing Babies

Comparing babies – a while ago we posted on Mommy Moment about this topic. It is such a hot topic, that it was the perfect inspiration for this Carl’s Life Cartoon this week.

When did your child walk?

Can they drink from a cup?

How many words are they saying?

Why do we feel the need to play the comparing game with our babies?

Have you experienced this?

Cory Graham is married to his university sweetheart and father of two children; (one bossy little girl and a new package born this September). Drawing Carl’s Life cartoons helps him to express that, what comes naturally to most, does not come naturally to all. All of life’s short comings are funny given enough distance and the right angle. Cory’s main philosophy is, “Live life and laugh at it”.

I think I do it without realizing, it's just almost a Mama/parent thing to reply with what my child is doing or can do when someone shares awesome news about their kid. I don't do it in a way that means harm or negativity or to show up another kid. I do remember when I was younger & my father remarried after my Mom they would often compare us step children and it was hurtful.
