Cheap Decorating tips

I love to find thrifty ways to decorate- and make my home mine while not spending a fortune. These fun and easy decorating tips will help to reinvigorate your home without breaking the bank.
Here are a few of my favorite tips:
1. De-clutter and clean your home- it may not be the most pleasurable way to decorate, but it is the first step to beautifying your home. De-cluttering can be overwhelming for alot of people, so call a friend ask for an extra set of eyes in finding places for clutter.
2.  Move decor items to different places around a room or to a different room altogether. Rotating your existing decorations will help breathe new life into rooms without spending a penny.
3.  Focus your redecorating attention on one room or area in the house at a time, it’s not only less overwhelming this way but you do a better job at it too.
4. Create a focal point in a room. It can be a single item displayed on it’s own or a collection of items grouped together. Or if you like it can be as simple as painting a feature wall to draw the eyes, adding a painting, or adding a vinyl wall decoration.
5. Establish a color scheme-  it’s a great idea to pick three colors for a room or area. Pick two main colors then one complimentary color that you have in smaller amounts. Make sure that the colors are contrasting and not too similar.
6.  Rearrange your existing furniture, move pieces like a chair or end table to a different place in your house. It completely transforms a room with very little effort and it’s cheap!
7. Paint or sand and stain old furniture. You’ll be pleasantly surprised what a few new coats of paint and a little elbow grease can do!
8. Use a great wallpaper to put up in an old shelving unit by papering the inside back section.
9. A large area rug or hallway runner can hide scuffs and worn hardwood and costs a lot less than having your floors refinished.
10. Group together small framed pictures and art for maximum impact.
11. Create a new duvet cover by sewing two bedsheets together.
Have anything you would changed in your home? Here is one of the interior design items on my wish list:

We've just moved into a new home so these tips are very timely; thank you for sharing them! Even though we decluttered before moving, we're finding that there's still quite a bit more that we can let go of so that task added on to the unpacking can be a bit overwhelming, but it's going well and we can't wait to put more of our own personal touches in every room.
