Burger Cake

What says summer more than barbecued hamburgers?

So I thought it would be fun to replicate a hamburger in cake form. Of course as I was making it, I thought that it really needed a side of fries as well. So I quickly whipped up a small batch of sugar cookies cut in long strips to resemble french fries.

My kids were so excited watching me put it together. They couldn’t wait for their dad to come home and think it was a real burger!

The “bun” is cake covered in light brown fondant.

The beef patty is a brownie that I baked slightly larger than the bun so I could cut the edges off and get a bit more of a realistic look. (It was not covered in fondant.)

All the fixings are colored fondant.

The fries are sugar cookies with red butter-cream ice cream to mimic ketchup.
