I love making bento school lunches for my girls. I call them Lovable Lunches because I love making them and my girls love eating them.
I find that people are often overwhelmed with the idea of making bento school lunches. Bento lunches don’t need to be full of fancy foods or made to look like special characters.
Today’s lunch is a simple lunch. I want to show you all how easy it is to make them.
Today’s lunch consists of:
- A bologna sandwich made with lettuce and mayonnaise cut in half lengthwise
- a peeled mandarin orange placed in a silicone muffin cup
- a sliced kiwi (cut using a circle cookie cutter because that is easier than peeling it)
- coleslaw
- mini crackers
- cheese slices (again I used a cookie cutter)
That’s it. The coleslaw is out of a package and all I had to do was add dressing. Easy.
I like that the bento school lunches are packed tightly together. I also like that my girls don’t have to worry about cleaning up any garbage. We love having a litter less lunch!
Most of the time I try to pack healthy lunches without processed food, but once in a while my kids enjoy a bologna sandwich, and I’m ok with that. We as parents just need to try our best!
What did you pack in your kids school lunch today?

Love you ideas for lunches and you are so right they don't have to be complicated. Love the lunch containers you have, where did you get them?

Judy, I use a few different kinds. My favorite ones are the PlanetBox (bought online) and the Rubbermaid Lunch Blox (bought at Walmart).

I think these containers are so awesome, so nothing gets stale from not being wrapped?
