TIPS FOR TRAVELING WITH KIDS (A CANADIAN FAMILY ADVENTURE WITH THE LAUGHING COW CONTEST)

This summer with Canada’s 150th birthday on the horizon, many families may be traveling to different cities to take in many of the great festivities happening across the country. Traveling with kids can be a tricky situation.

TIPS FOR TRAVELING WITH KIDS

Tips for traveling wtih kids

SNACKS – it is important to have snacks available at all times. Whether you are on the road, waiting for a table at the restaurant or standing in line at attractions, it is inevitable that your little ones will get hungry. Choose healthy, energy giving snacks to help them get through the day.

PATIENCE – when you are traveling, chances are your schedule will be thrown out the window. That means mealtimes, nap times, and bedtimes will not be happening at their regular time. Parents, patience will be key when dealing with your children. Take time to consider if you will be planning activities around the times when your children are sleeping.

COMFORT – staying somewhere else overnight can be scary. There is always new sounds and sights that are not what children are used to when they sleep in their own rooms at home. Make sure you bring comfort items from home that your children can hold and sleep with to make them feel safe.

Traveling with kids can be tricky, so if you want to stay closer to home, check out the festivals and celebrations near your hometown.

Our home city has a Summer in the City festival that includes shutting down Main Street, bringing in a large midway, food trucks and celebrity headliners! It is a lot of fun every year and I would say it is an event that brings a wedge of happiness to our family.

The Laughing Cow Mascot

Have you heard of The Laughing Cow? The Laughing Cow is known for it’s creamy, good taste and the iconic wedge packaging. Opening the wedge of creamy cheese has been bringing people joy for 96 years and it is no surprise that it is the most consumed melted cheese in the world… 240 portions are enjoyed each second. The Laughing Cow is all about joyfulness and she loves hearing about how families enjoy a wedge of happiness together.

In celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday, The Laughing Cow is encouraging families to discover Canada’s beautiful landscapes and culture! The exciting part is that The Laughing Cow is giving away a trip to anywhere in Canada! Who wouldn’t love to win that?

Yes - completely agree with your tips. Snacks is #1 on my list too! I would have to travel to the East coast like PEI or something. We really want to do a family road trip out there.

I agree with you. Snacks are vital for the success or failure of a family road trip. We try to bring a mix of healthy and fun treats so our kids will be happy while in the car for a few hours.

Where would I travel is truly a hard question to answer, lol. I'd love to visit a bunch of the National Parks that are open to the public as part of Canada's 150th celebration. This prize would certainly help me get to more places around Ontario. Would also love to be in Ottawa for July 1st this year.

Thanks for the heads up on the contest!

Thanks for the tips! We are road-tripping to Vancouver from Calgary this summer! I look forward to doing it when my kids are closer to your kids' ages, which will be a totally different kettle of fish!
