There is Nothing Better Than A Child’s Love

We all have kids that say adorably hilarious things. It’s my favorite. I love it when kids speak their mind.

Recently my mother in law wanted to make a special birthday dinner for my daughter. She called and asked my 4 year old what was her favorite food so she could make it for her. Without missing a beat my daughter responded. I want my dad’s famous mashed potatoes. My mother in law asked to talk to my husband probably with a pen in hand to right down this detailed recipe. When she told my husband he laughed because there is really nothing famous about the recipe it is not even a recipe just cooked potatoes some milk a little garlic simple mashed potatoes. Don’t get me wrong they are really good, just basic. Now of course we all refer to them that way often like we have hired an armed guard in front of a vault to protect the recipe.

I love it that kids can make you feel so good about yourself. Like when a Mom is the only one that can make a boo boo feel better or a Dad is the only one that can tuck them in special at night time. They freely give us so much love and adoration! Even when I have days that I really don’t feel like I am being a good mom they make me feel so much better!

I recently wore a shirt that I had not worn for a while (because it had been hidden in my abominable laundry pile). They noticed immediately “oh mom you look so cute in that shirt your beautiful!” they didn’t notice the extra baby weight I have yet to loose or the bags under my sleepy eyes. They just see me, their mom!  Their is nothing better than that!
