Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure

Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure is a new innovative way to play a third person adventure.

Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure takes us on a journey with the familiar face of Spyro the Dragon, and a large supporting cast to protect the Skylands from the evil portal master Kaos. Using these characters and your portal of power you are able to choose which characters you want to use throughout the game to solve puzzles and battle your way to save the Skylands.

When I got the chance to review Skylanders I jumped at the opportunity. This game is rated E10+ so I am on the higher end of the intended audience and my kids being 3 & 5 are a little too young. So I invited my 11 year old nephew to come over and try the game out. Here is what he thought: “This game is awesome. You have to put that in your review.” There you have it. He enjoyed it and I have to admit so did I.

With over 30 different characters to play with and collect the replay value of this game is extremely high.

It is great to see the game developer come out with a true cross platform experience like Skylanders. If you have a Wii and your buddy has an Xbox 360 you can both own the game and play your characters on each others systems (Also available on PC, Playstation 3, and Nintendo DS).

Some key features that makes the game Skylanders so great are:

The Interaction Figures – collecting all the Skylanders, able to change characters whenever you like during game play, and pick which characters to power up.

The Portal of Power – brings your toys to life

Exploration – that allows you to encounter a variety of challenges, puzzles, rewards and mini-games.

Co-operative Play – Players can join forces with friends dropping in and out of each level with whichever characters they like.

Player vs. Player – a classic battle mode

The Starter Pack sells for $69.99 (X360, PS3, Wii) or $59.99 (PC, 3DS) which includes a copy of the game, 1 Portal of Power, 3 Characters & 3 Trading cards.  After that you can find extras for $7.99 to $19.99 which makes it great for birthday or Christmas presents.

Since it’s release in October 2011, Skylanders quickly became the video game of the Christmas season.  If you don’t agree with me, try finding any of the additional characters or adventure packs for the game. They are sold out everywhere. It is undeniable that this game is popular right now. It also happens to be a lot of fun too.
