7 SCHOOL SUPPLIES YOU SHOULD BUY AT THE DOLLAR STORE

At the end of the school year when you receive the next years supply list, it can seem daunting. With all the special requests, the dollar amount of these school supply lists can be quite expensive. While there are some school supplies that you will need to spend more money on, there are some that you can get away with buying from your local dollar store.

7 SCHOOL SUPPLIES YOU SHOULD BUY AT THE DOLLAR STORE:

#1) COIL ART SKETCH BOOK – my daughter’s school supply list actually said to buy a coil bound sketch book at the dollar store. The cover and pages of this sketch book are sturdy and thick and the book is a lot cheaper than going to a special art store. Our dollar store even had 3 different ones to choose from.

#2) ERASERS – white erasers at the dollar store come in a package of 4 or 6 and work great for erasing pencil cleanly. We have been very happy with the white erasers we have bought from there.

#3) METAL PENCIL SHARPENERS – if you are looking for a simple metal pencil sharpener, you will find them at the dollar store.

#4) BINDER DIVIDERS – often binder dividers at the dollar store are the same brand as the ones at a larger store and come in packages of 6.

#5) CALCULATORS – you may think that more expensive calculators are better than the dollar store version, but I have a calculator that I purchased at a dollar store 15 years ago and it is still going strong! As long as the solar powered bar remains intact you should have no problems.

#6) ZIPPERED PENCIL CASES – while hard, box type pencil cases might not be the best at the dollar store, zippered pencil cases are usually sturdy and hold up through the year.

#7) RULERS – plain old plastic rulers are easy to come by at your local dollar store. However if you are looking for a wooden ruler, you may need to dish out a bit more money at an office supply store.

Which school supplies do you find worth buying at a dollar store?

Although this is not usually on the school supply list, it is worth sharing. Look at the dollar store for locker shelves. Our local dollar store had the exact same brand as a big box store for $3 instead of close to $10. There were not as many color options, but for the price it was a big saving!
