Children don’t come with any kind of instruction manual, that’s a fact, but there are some questions you can ask yourself to make sure you are parenting as successfully as possible.

DO MY KIDS GET ENOUGH SLEEP?

Kids need their shut-eye and if they are not getting the sleep they need they aren’t going to function to their full potential.  Making sure that your children get to bed at a decent time so that they can be fully rested for the next day is important.

Set a bedtime routine so that your children can relax before falling asleep.

DO MY CHILDREN EAT PROPERLY?

Your children need to maintain a healthy balanced diet to get the energy they need to get through those busy days. A little ice cream or drive-thru meal occasionally is not a bad thing. Just remember it’s all about balance.

ARE MY CHILDREN LEARNING?

This has nothing to do with grades. In fact, it can be as simple as learning through life experiences. Make sure that your children have open minds and are excited to learn.

Successful parents ask these important questions

AM I HAVING FUN?

If you are so busy going through the motions of life and find yourself not enjoying your kids, it’s time to take a long hard look at where your priorities lie.  Maybe you need to bring back family dinner or family game night.

ARE MY KIDS HAVING FUN?

Your children deserve a chance to enjoy life and sometimes we just get so busy that we forget they need time to have carefree fun.  Creating a bucket list to complete as a family is a great way to enjoy time together.

DO I GIVE ENOUGH PRAISE?

There are many important and positive things that you can say to your child daily. It can be so easy to get into the rut of focusing on the “bad” things your child does throughout the day.

Remember, the things you say to them become their internal dialogue so it’s important to make sure you are kind.

WHAT IS MOST IMPORTANT TO ME AS A PARENT?

Making sure that you know what kind of parent you want to be is incredibly important.  Do you want to be a calm parent?  A positive parent?  Discovering what you want helps you to parent accordingly.

WHAT AM I MOST THANKFUL FOR?

It is important to remind ourselves to be grateful for the relationship we have with our children. If you find yourself feeling as though this is an area you need to work on, it will open your mind to different parenting techniques that could work out better for you.

Being a successful parent has a lot to do with the way you view yourself.

Successful parents take the time daily to reflect on the positives of parenting and knowing where they can improve. Parenting is an important job and you want to make sure you are doing it successfully.
