Preparing a Halloween perfect for the littlest guests. #HalloweenHaul2015 #ThriftorTreat

It is that time of year again were many people go into their storage rooms and start to pull out their ghosts, witches and other Halloween Decor.  As parents of young children, we enjoy going door-to-door to see how people have truly gotten into the spirit and dressed up their homes to welcome children arriving with the requisite “trick or treat!”

Every year there are some homes that truly embrace the Halloween spirit. For the brave older crowd, these homes are spooktacular, but for little children, well… they can be just a little too spooky. There have been some homes that we’ve choosen to pass by to save ourselves from the inevitable nightmares. Since having kids, we have decided to make our Halloween decor a little less spooky too. This year we were due for a revamp of our Halloween decorations and thanks to Value Village we were able to create a Halloween front porch with just the right amount of “BOO-factor”.

When we went to Value Village we could tell there was an aura of excitement in the air about Halloween.  Costume consultants were ready and eager to help us with our costume and home decor needs.  In addition to their in-store selection, they also offer a wide variety of creative costume ideas, makeup tutorial videos and DIY inspiration for Halloween home décor on their website (www.valuevillage.com).

There was a variety of options for every type of Halloween decoration we could ask for. They had a variety of new and used Halloween items that helped us create just the atmosphere we were looking for. With a large range in price points from used to new items, we were able to create the look we wanted for our budget.

Our Halloween front porch is ready and the countdown to the big day is on. The little jack-o-lantern is first to welcome the kids. Cushions and an orange throw blanket create a welcoming ambiance, as the lantern gives off that flickering glow that spotlights the 2 Halloween cats with arched backs. The scarecrow watches from behind the chair while a bat flies overhead. A fun Halloween candle-holder adds some color and, and the brown wicker basket makes the perfect trick-or-treat candy bowl. We can’t wait for Halloween to arrive to see all the kids dressed up and yelling “trick-or-treat” while dressed as their favorite characters.

Thanks to Value Village and their team of top-notch Costume Consultants for making this Halloween preparation easy I know the kids are going to love coming to our door.

I love the sparkling accents - the glitter pumpkin and cats. They're scary without being TOO scary!
