It’s A Naked Cake!
One of the newest trends in cake decorating is the naked cake. The simplicity of seeing the layers of cake with layers of filling can be quite pretty and stunning. How perfect would it not be as a valentine’s dessert, or as a dessert for any occasion.
HOW TO MAKE A NAKED CAKE
Make your favorite cake recipe and fill with whatever you like.
For this naked cake I used vanilla cake filled with whipped cream and strawberries. I topped off the cake with some more berries and a generous dusting of powdered sugar.
Berries are not the only thing you can decorate the cake with, fresh organic flowers would be beautiful on top as well!

I love this idea. This is more my "father's day" route than a typical icing cake. She likes his fruit and sweet. It would be great if I could find cherries and maybe integrate brandy.

This is beautiful in it's own right. I am not a huge fan of icing, I actually usually tend to scrape it off, so this is perfect. The addition of the berries with the powdered sugar dusting makes it quite classy!

I would love this. hubby often makes fun of me for scraping most of the icing off a cake... he thinks the icing is the best part.
