Mom’s Away Pizza

When your wife goes on as many trips as mine, there are times when I am the one left to feed the little ones at home.  Up until now, the traditional approach for this dad has been a trip to the golden arches or calling ANY quick-to-deliver pizza place.  However, tonight is going to be different.

A mom-away favorite at our home is usually pizza.  And tonight will be no different.  However, the pizza is going to be made by 2 sets of hands that have a combined age of 11.  Our girls are all about crafts and making things, so why not make a pizza.  Now this endeavor seemed a little far fetched from the guy who thinks KD is a food staple, however, we decided to give it a shot.  According to our girls the only edible pizza toppings are cheese, pepperoni and pineapples.  So that is exactly what we were looking for.
We all jumped in the van and took a stroll down the aisles of the local grocery store while I pondered how I was going to pull this off.  It was quite simple and all necessary supplies were found.

After heading home, I laid everything out in bowls for my little chefs.  They were each given their own little pizza crust and with a little instructions my girls had their own creations.
I loved doing this!  I gave my girls the chance to have hands on learning and let them see the fruits of their own labors where they could eat what they made.  They thought it was cool, and I got to spend time with my girls in a setting that I rarely get to see.  I love my girls to no end and by having this opportunity to spend time with them like this was priceless.

Great moms away post. Love the dads view. My girls enjoy food more, I think, when they have had a hand in the prep work.
