If it looks like pancakes, does that mean I can eat it for breakfast?
My husband always teases me when I eat cake for breakfast so I thought if I made it look like a breakfast food maybe it would pass. Ok, maybe not but every once in awhile I do like to indulge and get my kick first thing in the morning. Afterall, it’s not that different than a pancake, muffin or doughnut.
This cake was so much fun to make. All you have to do is roll a piece of fondant into a rope and wrap it around the cake one piece at a time. After each layer you paint on some food coloring (I used brown and yellow). The top was a round piece that I folded in the edges and painted as well. Then all you have to do is cut a square of yellow fondant for the butter and drizzle on some syrup.
The perfect breakfast for someone with an incurable sweet tooth!

I stared at that first picture for a little longer than I would like to admit wondering how that was cake-cake and not pancakes before scrolling down to see the slice taken out of it. That cake is absolutely amazing!
Mommy Moment says
I agree…I go back and still look at it! LOL
Erna Singh says
LOL, that is why I thought it would be a good idea to take a picture with a piece cut out of it π

This would be great for next year’s April Fool’s Day joke π Pinning it!
Erna Singh says
That would be a great idea! I also thought it would be a neat spin if you actually made a stack of pancakes, covered in whip cream and decorated it with some strawberries to make it look like a cake.
claire says
Erna, you have multiple talents! I love this page. Ellen tried the stack of pancakes a few months ago, only used thinly sliced cakes, wrapped in fondant and painted. This is a great idea, and looks delicious.
