My husband fills the dishwasher too full #FINISHTHEDISHES

Let me tell you a little story about how my husband fills the dishwasher too full – and how I “solved” this little issue…

dishwasher

My loving husband is always ready to lend a helping hand. He loads the dishwasher, presses a couple of buttons and he even puts the dishes away.

Sounds pretty awesome, right?

Well, when I’m pulling out my good serving bowl for company only to find lettuce residue “baked” on to the sides, or spots on the water glasses – you get the idea.

I used to just smile at hubby, take a deep breath and go re-wash the dish by hand. I sometimes tried to “show him” how to properly load the dishwasher, but if your man is anything like my man, you know they like to do things their way!

Can you believe I found a solution that has both hubby and I happy now?!

Our dishwasher is pretty new, so I figured it was not the dishwasher that was the problem… I also knew I could not “teach” my husband to put less dishes in the dishwasher, so here is what I did.

The first thing I did was get the Finish  Dishwasher Cleaner.  I never knew what that was before, but it made sense to try it – In the same way you would never wash your dishes in a dirty sink, why would you want to wash your dishes in a dirty dishwasher.  The Finish Dishwasher Cleaner is simple to use and cleans in area’s you can not get to or even see.

The second thing I did was make sure the dishwasher reservoir was full of Finish Jet Dry Rinse Agent.  This product simply aids with Finish dishwasher detergent to help rinse your dishes (when your husband “forgets”). When the dishwasher is in cycle, bits of food can simply continue to float around your dishwasher. When you use Finish Jet Dry Rinse Aid, it helps helps wick away that residue and makes your dishes cleaner and as a result dryer when you open your dishwasher.

These two products have helped my husband be more helpful, and helped me not to lose my patience! Hubby can now get away with loading the dishwasher a little too full and after he puts the dishes away I no longer have to worry about finding  “surprises” when I pull out my good dishes just before company arrives.

***The Story Of The Little Dishwasher That Could***

Now because I can sometimes be a little skeptical myself when reading about products that claim to be so amazing, I have to tell you another little story. I overheard a lady in my church talk about needing to buy a new dishwasher because her old one was no longer doing the job – Since she was looking to get a new one, I asked her if she was up for a little challenge. I told her to get the Finish Dishwasher cleaner and run it through her dishwasher and then use the Finish Quantum tabs with the Jet Dry Rinse Aid for one week and then tell me if she still wanted a new dishwasher. The next Sunday she ran up to me and told me that she could not believe it. Her dishes were clean and dry and she could not believe that those products made such a difference in her old dishwasher…So there you have it – Finish works great in new and old dishwashers alike!

The Quantum Jet Dry has made a HUGE difference in my dishwasher - my next step is to get the quantum tabs! (Do they sell those at Costco?) Also, using the HOTTEST water setting has also helped clear more off of our dishes, too! Ps: Your dishwasher is very pretty. I'm having dishwasher envy right now.

I love the Finish Quantum Tabs! They take all the crusted on food off of any dishes

I have a husband who puts in dishes that still have a lot of sticky food on them, no matter how many times I've shown him what happens - baked-on impossible to clean crud on the dishes. And rather than overfill the dishwasher, he just throws the dishes in here and there and then complains that it's "too full" when there would be plenty of room if only he placed the dishes better. I'm convinced he does it on purpose so that I'll just tell him I'll do it myself - which I often do :/

That said, thanks for the tips on the Finish. I've only ever tried their detergent and not been super happy with it, I always go back to Cascade. But I'll have to try those other products, they sound great!

Natalie, I really suggest you try the Finsih Quantum Tabs if you have not tried those specifically. I have never tried their liquid, so I can't speak to that - but the Quantum along with the cleaner and Jet Dry is truly amazing!! Thanks for leaving a comment, I hope you'll let me know how it goes after you have tried it.

Ha ha that is awesome! My husband does that too, and he puts WAY too much soap, in fact I can smell the soap when the load is done and I open the door.
