HOW TO BOOST YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM

We’ve all been there. We think this is the year our immune system is going to combat all the germs.

Then, the minute the weather turns colder, someone in our house gets the sniffles.

Then, it continues onto a cough, and one by one each person in your household is fighting that dreaded cold.

Keeping your family’s immune system strong can help everyone stay healthy during cold and flu season.

At the very least, it may help you recover more quickly if you do succumb to illness.

Here are some easy ways to boost your immune system:

GUT HEALTH

Probiotics are an excellent way to improve your gut. You can introduce these into your diet in the form of yogurt or fermented foods.

Probiotics aid in digestion and help your gut work better so that you can absorb nutrients that help you develop a strong immune system.

EAT MORE GARLIC

Garlic offers antibiotic properties that can improve your ability to fight off disease.

DRINK MORE WATER

Your body needs water to function properly.

Food needs water in order to digest.

Drink at least 64 ounces of filtered water a day. Water also helps flush out toxins from your body.

EAT MORE VEGETABLES

Liver function is boosted by eating more cruciferous vegetables, which, in turn, will help cleanse your liver so that it can work better to remove toxins.

ADRENAL CORTEX SUPPORT

Eat healthy fats, foods high in antioxidants and amino acids such as avocados.

This aids in helping your adrenal glands continue to provide the right hormones to your body for a healthy immune system.

DRINK NATURAL JUICE DAILY

One vegetable and one fruit juice serving each day will help provide you with nutrients and calories for energy without stressing your digestive system.

GET ENOUGH SLEEP

Eight to ten hours is the recommended number to let your body completely refresh before it wakes and is stressed with the day’s activities.

Experiment with bedtimes until you find the right number that works for you.

EXERCISE DAILY

Boost your immune system just by walking at least 20 minutes or more each day.

Moving and breathing deeply will help you not only become healthier but feel healthier too.

This is especially important if you have a sedentary job where you must sit most of the day.

Make a point of getting up to walk.

GET FRESH AIR & SUNSHINE

Get fresh air and sunshine.

Sunshine gives you important vitamin D, and the fresh air will clear your lungs and help you relax.

AVOID TOXINS

Drink alcohol in moderation.

Stop smoking.

Try to use as few prescription drugs as possible.

The fewer toxins you ingest, the healthier you will become.

HUG IT OUT

It may seem a little silly, but there are health benefits to hugging.

“Feeling threatened and stressed can tune our immune system to act more aggressively than necessary for longer periods of time than are necessary,” says Murphy. “An over-aggressive immune system can lead to damage to bodily systems, increasing our risk for a variety of illnesses. However, to the extent that hugs make us feel safer and more cared for, they can buffer against experiences that might otherwise threaten us, protecting us from mounting an over-aggressive immune response.” source – nbcnews.com

Your immune system is just that; a system. Support the system so that it can support you.
