Hot Toys for 2010

With Christmas day quickly approaching, children of all ages are letting their minds fill with thoughts of what presents Santa will leave under the tree. For several months before Christmas, children have been compiling their Christmas lists, deciding exactly what toys are the must-have items of the season. There are many different types of toys competing for the attention and affection of children, crowding the shelves of toy stores this holiday season.

Every year, Disney releases a new film with a new cast of characters to take their place in the hearts of children all over the world. The characters of the past are just as popular year after year, however, especially the Disney princesses with always have a special place with girls of all ages. This year, Rapunzel, from the film “Tangled” is the new Disney princess and is showing up on the wish-lists of children everywhere. Gutsy heroine Rapunzel is a great addition to the Disney princess franchise and is taking her place under the tree with the princesses of the past.

Just as popular with boys as the princesses are for girls is Ben 10, the hero of Cartoon Network’s popular animated series. Ben 10 is a teenage boy with the supernatural ability to shift to different alien forms with the add of his Omnitrix. This year, kids can own their very own Ben 10 Omnitrix, a replica of Ben’s alien watch. The Omnitrix is a great gift for kids this year who want to stretch their imagination and act out their own galactic adventures.

There are also several toys being released in connection with the penultimate film in the “Harry Potter” franchise. Lego sets and light-up wands allow boys and girls of all ages to feel like they are part of Harry’s wizardry world.

There are many other toys outside of the popular film and television franchises showing up on wish-lists this year. Other hot toys include interactive robotic toys, like the robotic Big Foot, which responds to different commands and does many different motions and says many different phrases. Other remote-controlled toys include dinosaurs like Cruncher. These toys are hot items this year because the toys respond to the commands of the children, which adds a whole new level of game play.

Another hot toy this year is the Pillow Pets, large stuffed animals that can be both a pillow for children and a stuffed animal. Pillow Pets comes in a variety of different animals, from unicorns to frogs to lady bugs, ensuring that there is an animal out there for everyone.

I am sure if she could speak, my 5 month old would be asking for anything from Bright Starts and her playmat pulltoy that makes music stopped working and it's her favorite so I am sure she would ask for one of these. I am hoping to get her a bouncy seat this Christmas and a Play Yard.
