As spring and summer is quickly approaching, there will be more insects coming out of hibernation and more unwanted pests in our homes. I am NOT a fan of spiders (in fact, I don’t really know many people that are) and I hate the thought of them crawling around my house, making webs and laying eggs. Even though spiders aren’t my favorite thing in the world I also don’t like the thought of using harsh chemicals in my home around my children.
4 WAYS TO GET RID OF SPIDERS NATURALLY
DECLUTTER – Clean up piles of clothing sitting in the corner of your room or closet. Also get rid of paper boxes. Spiders like to hide in these places of clutter and lay their eggs (gross!) Store items in plastic bins and make sure to eliminate all types of paper clutter.
PEPPERMINT ESSENTIAL OIL – Spray diluted peppermint essential oil around windowsills and doorways. The smell will keep out spiders and will also make your home smell great!
MINT PLANTS – Many insects do not like mint. By planting mint plants around the outside of your home, you are keeping not only spiders out, but ants and other insects too!
VACUUM AND CLEAN OFTEN — Spiders like to hide in corners and behind furniture. By moving furniture and vacuuming often you are sure to keep webs from being made and your home won’t be a friendly space for spiders. Don’t forget to dust and keep surfaces clear.
