DIY Christmas Banner

Doily finished

Christmas is coming and that means it is time to decorate! I usually like to wait until after our middle boy’s birthday is past before I do anything inside the house (Nov 24th). Decorating your home for the holidays can get quite expensive. You don’t have to spend a ton of money to get your house in tip top festive shape.

I have a few DIY projects in the works for our home. My first was this super easy and SUPER cute doilie banner. You only need a couple of things and about 20 minutes set aside to get this project done.

Doily Banner Supplies

What you will need:

  • Doilies ( I purchased mine at the dollar store, 150 for a dollar!)
  • White glue
  • Glue gun
  • String, ribbon or twine to hang your banner
  • Patterned paper (I used two different patterns for mine)

First you need to cut your circles to fit the center of your doilies. I cut mine to 4 ¾ round using my cricut. If you do not have one just use a bowl, cup or any other round object and trace it.

Next glue your paper to the center of each doily. Heat up your glue gun so it is nice and hot and ready to go. Let your circles dry completely and then fold each in half. Next all you need to do is open the circle back up slightly and place your string on top. Run a line of hot glue down the center and close it back up. Hold for a moment to cool and set and repeat until your banner is the length you want.

The last thing you need to do is find the perfect spot, I decided to string mine from the large window in our living room.
