There is so much to love about this collection. As a busy mom I really appreciate that the book comes with a CD. I have found the CD comes in handy when we are going for a long drive, or in the afternoons when I want a quiet activity for one of the girls.
I was surprised how well my youngest was captured by this story. She is 2 years old and I did not expect her to stay for the entire story, yet she did.
This story is really cute. It is about a little girl who behaves like a dragon, and a dragon who behaves like a little girl. I feel that this story has a great underlying theme about how people are different.
The game included in this collection is great! It helps children become familiar with feelings and expressions. My 5 year old thoroughly enjoyed this game, it has quickly become a family favorite!
Of course I can not forget about the dragon puppet. The puppet is very well made and makes playtime so much fun. I even heard my 5 year old acting out part of the story using her puppet. So may say it is just playing, but it really is a great early language activity!
This collection is very special to me because my 5 year old daughter just started taking violin lessons this year. Everything about this collection exceeded my expectations!
The Book and CD are wonderful. The instrumental accompaniment on the CD is superb. The book does a great job of having the reader join Gustav Mole in his passion for music, classical instruments and performance venues. The illustrations are captivating and the amount of information in the book is incredible. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for musical type gifts.
The Gustav Mole Puppet is great too. The violin and bow are both detachable. My daughter loves to set up the puppet while she is practicing her violin. Sometimes her little sister uses the puppet to play along with her big sister. It is too cute!
The Game included in this collection does a good job of reinforcing what was learned in the book. There are different playing levels in which the child can identify, match and categorize instruments and animal characters.
Other Thoughts
One thing that I appreciate about Discovery Toys is that they made these products to fit different budgets. The products above can be purchased as collections or as individual items so if you just want the book with CD you can purchase it without the puppet and game.
