April is daffodil month in support of those living with cancer. It’s a cause close to my heart. My mom is a cancer survivor and my sister died of cancer in 2005. In support and remembrance of them, I made some fondant daffodils to go on top of cupcakes. Anything we can do to help support the search for a cure is a great thing.
I went to the Canadian Cancer Societies Fightback website and got the following list of things we can do to support daffodil month.
For example:
- Tell a loved one or friend with cancer that you are thinking of them and let them know about the Society’s information and support programs.
- Do something special for someone you know with cancer (for example, make a meal, do an errand, babysit).
- Contact your provincial or local politicians to voice the importance of fighting back against cancer and tell them how they can join with the Society in this fight.
- Make a presentation in your community to help raise awareness about how Canadians can fight back against cancer.

What a beautiful tribute to your family's battle, Erna! It's so true; every little thing we can do to raise awareness is a step in the right direction. These cupcakes and you sharing your story and these tips were a wonderful way to do that. Thank you so much!

I had cancer a year and a half ago and a few months after I was diagnosed my mother was diagnosed with blood cancer and breast cancer. My sister had cervical cancer years ago. Cancer sucks but I am so grateful that having cancer doesn't mean a death sentence anymore. We have hope!

Great idea. My relay for life team did an amazing fundraiser last night and we raised over $1500. p.s cupcakes were part of it and we raised over $100 by selling 20 of them!
