How do YOU survive winter? {Chicken Soup for the Soul #Giveaway}

Hockey, snow, cold temps, curling — these are just some of the wonderful things that happen during winter in Canada.

Chicken Soup Wonders of Winter

O Canada The Wonders of Winter by Chicken Soup for the Soul brings you 101 stories about bad weather, good times and great sports!  While reading this book, you will be reminded why you love Canada during winter.  With stores about the great sports like hockey, curling, skiing and skating, winter traditions, great moments in Olympic sports, random acts of kindness and even stories about Christmas and holiday fun, you will remember why winter in Canada brings out the best in us Canadians!

I loved reading the That Famous Canadian Kindness chapter.  Being a recipient of someone shoveling our snow-filled driveway this past weekend was such an encouragement to me and my family and I love reading that there are others out there displaying that same kindness.

Another thing that gets us through winter in Canada is friendships.  Nothing beats the friendship between women — the understanding and support during though times and the laughter and fun during good times.  Chicken Soup’s Just Us Girls book has 101 stories about friendship for women of all ages.

Chicken Soup Just us girls

Whether they’ve just met or they’re childhood pals, women support each other, understand each other, share advice and have great fun together.  These storeis will make you laugh out loud, tear up and little and call a friend to share what you’ve read.  The chapters in these books talk about:

  • book groups, play groups, clubs coworkers
  • new friends
  • friendship at work
  • special connections
  • neighborhood friends
  • finding the courage to reach out and make a new friend
  • and hilarious trips and events that happen with friends.

Do you have a best friend who makes you laugh and is there for you no matter where your life turns?  Why not get the Just Us Girls Chicken Soup book as a gift for that special friend.

I take advantage of long, hard walks and as much as my back hates it, I really like shovelling. It's so important to just get out there and take in the Vitamin D when you can! For the Toronto and GTA area, this has been one of the harshest winter cold/wind wise. I can't remember the last time we had one quite like this - I was too young to care!

I work outside and I find dressing in layers helps to manage your core temp.

I survive by dressing in lots of layers and trying to get out to enjoy winter even when it's cold and snowing.
