BACK TO SCHOOL SHOPPING TIPS

Brought to you by Interac Association and TheCo.

Gearing up for back to school can be a daunting task. Each child has their own school supply list with an array of items that are needed to get them through the school year. It can feel overwhelming standing in the school supply aisle not knowing where to start.

We’ve got some great Back to School Shopping Tips to help you navigate what could be a stressful time of the year.

3 BACK TO SCHOOL SHOPPING TIPS

#1) PICK A DAY. Since each child will want to pick out their own color of binder and pencil case, plan a day when your child/children can come with you. Also, make sure you have no other plans this day as it can be an overwhelming process for younger children.

#2) MAKE THE DAY SPECIAL. Going to school can be a stressful time for those who do not enjoy school or for first-time students. Plan a trip through the coffee shop drive through before your shopping trip, or a fun lunch out at a restaurant when it is complete.

#3) MAKE YOUR LIST. Take all the school supply lists type them into a spreadsheet – be sure to type the child’s name beside each item. Then sort your spreadsheet alphabetically so that all the binders are grouped together line after line, then the markers and so on. That way if you have more than 1 child to shop for, you can see how many packages of markers you need or how many binders you need in total.

When my kids are occupied, they are happy and much more mannered. However, it is inevitable that we will be standing in line ups with other families who are also doing their back to school shopping. The most important thing I can remember in my wallet is my Interac Flash® enabled debit card. Interac Flash is the fast, easy and secure way to pay for all your back to school shopping.

By simply hovering your Interac Flash debit card over the payment terminal you are making your life a little more seamless. No more fumbling around in your wallet for cash, or trying to remember another pin.

The best thing is that I know I’ll never receive a bill and pay interest on my purchases (helping me make sure we stay on budget!).

This year I'm glad I'm a pack rat. After checking my sons school supply list I found I only needed one new item this year! I had enough previous left over supplies to avoid shopping lol!

We always took a long, leisurely lunch at someplace "grown up" like the Cheesecake Factory and they got to order whatever they wanted.
