My husband and I enjoy eating out at restaurants that don’t have a slide and/or play structure and where beverages come in glass cups instead of paper. However, it is not always easy to do with kids — especially when finding a babysitter can be difficult.
Here are my 3 tips for eating out with kids:
#1) Eat Early! ~ Kids get grumpy when they are hungry. Make sure to dine early, or provide your little ones with a snack before you go to the restaurant so they are more relaxed and not begging for food.
#2) Pack a Busy Bag ~ Head to your local dollar store and stock up on activities books, crayons and stickers. If your child has something special to do, chances are they will sit a little quieter. We use these busy bags ONLY when we head out to eat so that the toys and activities in these bags are a special treat.
#3) Find a Family Friendly Restaurant ~ This one can be a little tougher. Especially if you live in a smaller city like us. Until this past April, our only family friendly establishments were fast food restaurants — exactly the ones we were trying to get away from! This April, Boston Pizza made their debut in our city. We were excited! My husband and I have loved dining at Boston Pizza since before we were married.
Boston Pizza is 100% kid friendly!
Right now, Boston Pizza has their Kids Cards available for purchase. These Kids Cards are amazing! For only $10, you get a card that provides you with 5 FREE kids meals! All the money raised from these Boston Pizza Kids Cards goes to charity. The Boston Pizza Foundation raises funds for many charities across Canada and around the world. All charities supported by the Boston Pizza Foundation directly improve the health and well-being of children and families. With every kids meal, kids will receive a Kids Fun Pack that has fun games and activities to keep them occupied while they wait for their meals. I have several boxes of these lying around my house right now!
Boston Pizza also has a great design contest going on right now for kids. The Design a Mask contest is geared for kids up to age 18. Design Team Canada’s Goalie mask for your chance to WIN a trip for 2 to watch Team Canada at the World Jr’s! Also, the goalie mask that you design could end up on Team Canada’s Goalies during the World Junior Championships! If your mask is the winning design, you will receive a goalie mask with your design autographed by the whole Canadian World Jr team! There are 2 age groups to enter in – 12 and under and ages 13-18. Everyone has a chance to win — so see your waiter/waitress for a design sheet, make up your design and hand it in.
Keep in mind that the Kids Cards are only available until September 29th and the Design a Mask contest is only around until the middle of October! Get to your local Boston Pizza today!
