5 TIPS FOR TIRED MOMS

Today’s post is about tips for tired moms. Before I continue I must admit that these tips are as much for me as they are for you. As moms to young kids, we have a lot on our plates. Between kids not sleeping at night for various reasons and all the tasks that we need to take on during the day, moms can get into a tired rut and have a hard time getting out of it. My girls most often sleep through the night now but I still find I am one of those tired moms a lot of the time. Taking a nap is a nice idea but is often not a practical one. Here are some tips for those times when you can’t get some extra Z’s.

5 TIPS FOR TIRED MOMS:

#1) STAY HEALTHY – Make sure you take your vitamins daily and eat healthy. This includes removing sugar from your diet (which can make you crash!)

#2) EXERCISE – I know what you’re thinking: “I’m tired and you want me to work out?” YES! Exercise improves your health overall and will get your blood moving! Even if you can’t get to the gym, or out side for a walk/run, spend 5 minutes dancing with your kids, spend some time outside doing yard work, or find a short workout video on Youtube.

#3) DRINK MORE WATER – While many people might reach for a coffee or other caffeinated beverage to help them past the point of tiredness, water is really the first thing you should drink. Water will help re-hydrate your body and keep your muscles working so that you are more alert.

#4) GO TO BED ON TIME – As parents, we set bedtimes for our kids, but a good routine to get into is setting a bedtime for yourself. This will help you wind down and go to sleep at a decent hour.

#5) GET OUT OF THE HOUSE – Even a short walk around the block or a trip to the mall with your kids will rejuvenate your body and mind. Meet a friend and their kids for a playdate at a local park so they can run off some of their energy and you can get some adult “me time” in.
