Before we get to the Valentine’s Day ideas on a budget, I have to say I’m pretty lucky to be married to a man who values the importance of relationships.

Remember my feeling blessed on Valentine’s Day post from last year?

Yes, my hubby is pretty awesome, and this year he offered to contribute a post for the blog, so here is is…

5 VALENTINE’S DAY IDEAS ON A BUDGET (WRITTEN BY A MAN)

For some February 14th is just another day. Yet for others, it is a day where one can show love to there significant other or will be the recipient of someone’s love.

Yes, Valentine’s Day is a great time of year. And while there are some couples that choose to boycott this annual event for their own reasons….well too bad for them.

If you can’t get a babysitter, plan your special time after the kids are in bed – there will always be excuses, so resolve to make something work.

Yes I do love my wife very much, and I do try and celebrate her love every day (copout #1), February 14th is a special day where we try to go that extra mile for our partner. And while some believe this is just another Hallmark Holiday (copout #2), there is nothing wrong with showing your significant other how much you love her on a set date. (I made her this Valentine’s Day Note Trail a few years ago).

And despite what some may think, it does not have to break the bank (copout #3).

5 TIPS TO MAKING VALENTINE’S DAY SPECIAL WITHOUT BREAKING THE BANK

PLAN A MEAL.

Look we all have to eat right. Why not make that day extra special. Find out what they like and go that extra mile.

Get fresh food or do whatever it takes to make that meal extra special.

TURN OFF ALL YOUR DEVICES AND CONCENTRATE ON EACH OTHER.

Believe it or not, the world will continue to spin and the sun will rise again if we leave our phones or devices off or away from you for a set amount of time.

By doing this, it shows your significant other that you care about them want to invest in what they say…uninterrupted.

LOOK AT OLD PHOTOS TOGETHER.

This is a personal favorite of mine.

Taking a stroll down memory lane and talking about the good times and bring back a flood of great memories is a great way to remember the good times and give you reminders of your first experiences together.

PLAY A GAME.

We all have cards at home or other games.

Why not blow the dust of them and have a great time.

Make it fun with a favorite drink and some great music of your loved one’s choice.

MAKE A HOMEMADE CARD.

Yup, break out the elbow macaroni and glitter glue and that creativity.

How impressed would your SO be with a handmade card? This shows you take the time for them and want to go that extra mile.

Remember this, buying a card takes seconds, making a card takes time and thought…something that is priceless.

These are just a few examples of things that are inexpensive and show love.
