3 tips to nurture the love of reading!

My kids definitely received a few of my traits.  The one I am most proud of is their love for reading and books!  My kids know, that if they ask to purchase a book, I will have a very hard time saying no.  So how did I nurture this love of reading?  Here are 3 tips to nurture the love of reading:

3 tips to nurture the love of reading

#1)  Create a reading nook or quiet place in your house with books easily accessible.  Make sure the space is well lit and comfortable.

#2)  Purchase books that your child will be interested in reading.  Ask them about their interests or what they would like to learn about.  Right now we have a wide variety books on different animals — especially penguins since that is what my 8 year old daughter loves at the moment.

Scholastic Books

#3)  Find a book fair.  Whether it is the used book sale at the mall or a book fair at their school, let them browse and find books that they would love to read.  Every year, the Scholastic Book Fair sets up in my kids school at the beginning of February and for 3 days kids browse, buy and read!!  It is an exciting time in our house.  Scholastic Canada has many great books, in many different genres for kids of all ages to enjoy.
