Chicken Soup for the Soul ~ Family Caregivers #giveaway {3 Winners}

Chicken Soup for the Soul is a series of books that features 101 short, inspirational stories  focused towards a certain group of people or age group.  With over 200 titles there is a book for everyone is every stage of life.

Almost everyone has older family members in their family, who will need extra caring as they get older.  These times can be a joy but they will most certainly come with some stresses.

Chicken Soup for the Soul ~ Family Caregivers is a book that focuses on stories of Love, Sacrifice and Bonding.

These revealing stories from people of all ages who take care of family members, at home or in outside facilities, are filled with emotional support and practical advise.  You’ll be inspired and feel appreciated as you read all 101 of these personal glimpses into the lives of other family caregivers.

I know that I am not quite there yet with having to be a caregiver to family members (other than my own children of course) but this book has some great tips for dealing with that stage of life.  Mental illness, accidental disability or just plain old age, this book has situations and advice for everyone.

I especially liked the introduction of the book written by Joan Lunden.  She gives insight into what it was like for her to all of a sudden have to care for her brother and mother.  She talks about how she set everything up so that they were together and well cared for, however, she mentions that she never looked into the future and planned for the “next step”.  I appreciated her advice, and even though I am a planner by nature, I will definitely be implementing the suggestions she gave.
