GOOD NIGHT MATILDA & MAXWELL (Closed)

Product Moment:

GoodParentGoodChild

The book Good Night, partnered with the children’s book Matilda & Maxwell Good Night was written to help parents and children deal with stresses and dramas that surround bedtime and to help parents find a technique and routine to help solve bedtime struggles.

These books are written from 3 different perspectives: that of a pediatric psychologist, a clinical social worker, and the mother of a toddler and ‘tween. Together they have over 50 years of experience.

The parent book Good Night has actual case stories as examples providing readers with a real context for the techniques that they are learning!

They recommend using the children’s book Matilda & Maxwell Good Night to help reinforce the techniques and concepts that the parent’s have just learned. In this funny book, with great pictures which are illustrated by Lisa Petty, kids will read about two best friends, Matilda and Maxwell. Matilda tells Maxwell that she has a secret. Her secret is that she is scared to sleep in her own bed at night.

The writers use a concept called What’s the Rule?. They don’t promise that it will be easy. In fact they say the first 4 nights can be very rough but they do say it works.

Mommy Moment:

When I had my first child there were never really any sleeping issues. So when my 2nd child was born, I did everything the same – but it didn’t work. It was a battle every night to go to sleep. We let him stay up, we slept on his floor, we even slept in his bed! I was tired – tired of the nightly fights and tired from not getting enough sleep in my own bed.

Now 2 years later things have gotten slightly better, but when I received this book to review, things got A LOT better! I only wish I had received this book sooner. The book for parents, Good Night, is such an easy book to read and to follow. I love how they have actual cases with actual parents and kids recorded in the book so that you can see how real people used the techniques.

Good Night

The book seems to have an answer for every situation that could arise at bedtime. I learned a lot of things in the book that made sense to me but I didn’t really think about until they were pointed out to me.

I also liked the question & answer chapter at the end of the book. It looked at special situations that parents are facing and how to deal with them and the night-time routine.

Kids Moment:

Matilda & Maxwell Good Night

Both of my kids were excited to read the children’s book Matilda & Maxwell Good Night. They loved the pictures and the fact that the book was rhyming and funny.

After reading the book once to my son, I have only had to ask him What’s the Rule? once, and bedtime has been easier.

Company Moment:

Rebecca began working part-time for a pediatric psychology practice after the birth of her daughter, Although she loved spending time with her daughter, she also needed to work to help support her growing family. She found that as her daughter’s character and behavior began to develop, so did Rebecca’s need to find quick parenting solutions to these new challenges. As a busy mother and employee, she did not have time to read encyclopedia size books, looking for answers to her questions.

As a mother, the idea was as natural as giving a hug. Why not create a series of short, educational, and entertaining books for busy parents, with a corresponding book on the same topic for children? That way, the entire family is on the same page. That’s how the GoodParentGoodChild™ book series was born!
